China's tire export volume and prices will fall in 2020

On January 20, the General Administration of Customs released the tire export data for December 2020.

In December, China's tire export volume declined year-on-month; in the second half of 2020, China's tire export volume soared, but it still did not match the sales volume in 2019.

Tire exports fell in December

Data show that in December 2020, China's rubber tire exports were 560,000 tons, a decrease of 70,000 tons from the previous month and a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%.

In the same month, rubber tire exports were 8.245 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.5%.

Among them, the export volume of new pneumatic rubber tires was 530,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 70,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%; the export value was 7.809 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%.

In December, the number of new pneumatic rubber tires exported was 45.09 million, a month-on-month decrease of 3.16 million and a slight decrease of 0.2% year-on-year.

Market analysis believes that environmental protection production restrictions in some areas have affected the operating rate of enterprises, and the difficulty of finding one container by sea is the main reason for the decline in tire exports in December.

The export volume and price dropped all year round

According to TireWorld.com, since the second half of last year, China's tire exports have shown a recovery growth, with significant year-on-year growth in many months.

Despite this, the cumulative tire exports throughout the year have not even reached the level of 2019.

Statistics show that in 2020, China’s cumulative export volume of rubber tires will be 6.29 million tons, down 3.4% year-on-year.

The cumulative export value was 96.521 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3%.

The decline in export value is greater than the decline in export volume, indicating that tire export volume and price have also fallen throughout the year.

Among them, the cumulative export of new pneumatic rubber tires was 6.04 million tons, down 3.4% year-on-year; the cumulative export value was 91.944 billion yuan, down 9.8% year-on-year.

In terms of the number of tire exports, in 2020, a total of 476.84 million new pneumatic rubber tires were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%.

Some people in the industry said that in the face of the global epidemic, it is not easy for China's tire exports to achieve such results.

The latest market situation shows that companies’ overseas orders are still sufficient, but environmental protection production restrictions and shipping problems still plague tire exporters.

In addition, near the Spring Festival, some manufacturers have plans to suspend production and holiday.

It is expected that China's tire exports may decline from January to February, but the overall situation will be better than the same period last year.
